Shanghai History Museum

Once upon a time in Shanghai.
Located just below the Oriental Pearl, the Shanghai History Museum boasts more than 40,000 exhibits dedicated to the history of Shanghai. Certain objects stand out like the bronze tigers, or the 1930's models of the Bund and the Hardoon Garden.
The 4000 m² exhibition space is entirely devoted to the recreation of the atmosphere of Shanghai in the 1930's displaying old stone vaulted houses, typical Chinese shops, foreign merchants, opium, farmers, the cruel judicial system and so on. Everyday, actors replay major historical scenes from the end of the Quing dynasty (1911) to the 1940's.
